Actually, I posted this originally thinking Neildo_64 was using an unofficial controller rather than an official one. Unofficial ones use 4 wires: VCC, ground, H and V. The original N64 controllers seem to use a light or similar as I recall to detect movement, like a PC mouse, so using a cog to reverse the direction would work in theory as it would be fooling the light signal into thinking the opposite direction was moved. It has been a while since I opened one of these controllers as I don't like them, much prefer pots: smaller, standard, better to use, feel more responsive.Skyone wrote:Since you seem to know, how does it measure? See, thats what I did. I used the wheels from another joystick and turned them into just plain gears that would turn the wheels. So if you move the joystick right, it turns the gear, which turns the wheel left. I did the same thing with both axis. I posted a link to a video a couple posts back. It only adds a couple mm to the overall height. However, with the thing that I made, the circuit board with the emitters and receivers won't fit so It is pointless. I would really like to find a way to do this.

This is the crux of the problem you mentioned. I think you are using a mallet to crack a nut, as the saying goes. You would be far better just filling in the hole, or cutting a disk of perspex and gluing it in place to fit the hole perfectly, sealing it, then cutting out a new hole - from what you say, it looks like the joystick will fit if you cut the hole right. Otherwise, just make/use a new case; or get a third party controller and small joystick. Well, I've known from the beginning of this option, I just also wanted to figure out if the joystick flip was possible. I have wanted to figure out how to flip the joystick before, but I've never had a reason to until now. I'm not messing with it much more, then I'm going to try to fit it differently with a new hole. Thanks anyways guys.
