German Music!

Lately I've been interested in foreign music, trying to find stuff that is appealing musically, even if I have no idea what they're saying

I've listened to a couple different languages, and Germany definitely has some pretty awesome stuff. Not being able to speak the language, I don't have an easy way to search for music besides previewing on iTunes. I've found a couple good songs, but it's pretty overwhelming the amount of music I'm looking through. So I want suggestions! I know some of you guys here are really into music, and I think a few people here speak German? Either way, any input would be greatly appreciated! Nothing too hardcore, and no rap. Anything "alternative" sounding (like Franz Ferdinand or Muse?) would be exactly what I'm looking for.

Ever hear of a band called Flogging Molly? Irish with slight punkish overtones on some songs and a bluegrassy feel to most other songs.

Rammstein and Megaherz are probably the two biggest bands to come out of Germany. Probably not your style though.

Also, youtube is probably the best way to find music, since it's free and you can listen to full songs.

Well I happen to speak German and I really enjoy good music. Although since you don't really like hardcore stuff, I guess Rammstein wouldn't be a band for you. You could always try them out, I guess.

Another German band that I absolutely love is Edguy. However, while they may be a German band, their songs are in English. I just can't get enough of their Hellfire Club album.

SGTPEPPER- Try Latin music. Like Romans, not like central Americans. There's so much variety, and sometimes you can almost understand it. Adiemus is a great group.

oh, I just realized this was for all foreign music!
another foreign band I listen to is Galneryus. They are a Japanese Metal band who are primarily an English-singing band, but their latest album brought in a few songs in Japanese.

For an Italian band, I like Rhapsody of Fire. They are also an English-singing band. They bring in a Symphonic Power Metal sound. Really love their grandiose sound.

Rammstein isn't really that heavy guys its just metal. I listen to a viking band but they are in English though. Who knew vikings had bands, good much though they are called Amon Amarth.

Helloween is from Germany but they sing in English.

Rammstein is amazing, but my only gripe is I would enjoy it like 10x more if I could understand what they were singing.
