ps2 power comsumption

Post by phantom92opera »

hey i was gonna buy a ps2 screen but before doing so i needed to know...
how many volts does the ps2 (slim) actually use? i know the psone uses 7.5 because i own one of those screens and power adapters.

if i were to use a ps2 screen could i run it off the psone supply or would i need a larger supply and battery? thanks

According to google, the PS2 slim PSU outputs 8.5V at 5600mA.

As for the screen, I think I have read here that the PS2 screen is the same as the xBox screen. In which case it allegedly runs on 7.5V at 1500mA.

The Slim doesn't use that much power though, 2-3A or so?

Yeah, that seems high to me too. Maybe they figured that people would connect the screen to it and built in the necessary amperage?
