N64 Laptop

[What Name]

I am thinking about making an n64 laptop. I am a beginner, but I do have some basic experience. Not much, though. I also know it will be very hard, but that isn't what this is about. Can I use a ps2 pelican screen for the laptop? I really am not sure if you can, because all the portables I see aren't laptops and use psone screens.

This is the correct forum and yes, you can use any screen that accepts composite video (any game console screen would work).

There is no reason why you can't do an N64 as first project, look at the threads and stickies first before starting; you will have more than enough knowledge then to succeed.

Making the case is what takes the time. You can spend up to a day getting all the electronics and wiring done for an N64p; but then spend several weeks getting a case done!!

Sorry I haven't replied, my life has been crazy. My second cousin died in a plane crash Tuesday afternoon (may he rest in peace) and we had to go to Dallas for his funeral. And right after that I got sick . But thanks for telling me whether it was easy or hard. Can anyone tell me how I could make a case though? I'm trying to get info down on paper.

Sorry to hear of your loss, sucks.

About the case, really up to you, sky's the limit - make one yourself from perspex or wood; or buy a project case and modify it to the size you need, or use fibreglass, or vacuum mould, or any plastic case; you decide. Don't make as case until you have all the system working first and you know how the case need to be otherwise you are wasting you time. System first, case last.

As has been said many times before, any screen using a suitable voltage and inputs for composite and/or RGB will be fine for portablizing.
