How to properly wire the LED's?

Well I got 413000MCD LED's and a resistor to make them work off 5V. I connect the resistor to the 7805 on the LCD's board but how do I wires the LED's? Each connected separately or in a line

"+ - to + - to + - to + 2"

Or

"+ - to -+ to + - to - +"

The LED's are rated for 3.6V so I put 3AA's and got 3.6 and it powered 1 LED fine, but when I try to do with with 2 LED's wired in a line they do not work.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT DO DOOOO!

Hook the LEDs in parallel. Connect all the positive wires, then all the negative wires, then connect the positive and negative to the resistor. This way it still takes the same voltage, just more mAs. If you wire the + of one led to the - of another and hook the remaining leads to the ground and the resistor, you are wiring it in series, which takes twice the voltage but the same mA, so they won't work. Hope this helps.

Yep, exactly like the pic, only to the ground of the board and to the resistor. Yay google!
Edit: just noticed the +'s and -'s of that pic are backwards, I believe. Right?
