I actually carved a watermelon a couple years ago. It looked pretty cool, but the walls are thin in comparison to pumpkins, so you have to be careful.

I agree with bacteria, some things can belong in several different forums depending on how you look at it. Maybe we should think of what the poster's was thinking when they decided to post in that particular forum, and see if it makes sense for it to be there.
But posting a topic posted in a more popular forum so that people will see it is a bunch of crap. If you have a screen question, post it in that forum. Most people with knowledge about screens will check there anyways.

PS: I think Q&A should also say something about being the place to post guides. I posted a little guide about fixing a speaker surround in F42 because I figured it was just an answer, but then it was moved to Q&A. I can see the logic behind that, but it might be good to add some clarification.

Guys, chill, okay? Of course we'll take into consideration the member who's posting the thread, and of course we realize that occasionally, where a topic needs to go isn't 100% clear. There are exceptions to every rule. However, all too many of you are posting threads outright that belong in other forums in F42, and it's getting really annoying. I spend a lot of my time here trying to clean things up, and trust me, I enjoy the job I do here, but moving threads all day because someone was too lazy to read a sticky or just wanted their question answered faster isn't exactly my idea of the "Benheck experience". For reiteration, guys, F42 =/= Tech Q&A!!!

EDIT: For those still confused, anything at all related to technology, be it hardware, software, circuits, computers, etc. that you have a question or answer to belongs in the Tech Q&A forum. Programming questions belong in the Development Center.

for example, I was after someone to give me link to where I could get tiny flat screws, or supply me (didn't happen), and I was told this should be in the trading forum not the forum 42 - my logic was that I wasn't selling, trading or necessarily buying (a website url in UK would be fine), so I used forum 42 as I wasn't trading. Ok, wrong forum, but logic was there for forum 42.

the trading post isnt just for trading. anything relating to wanting to buy/sell something or asking where said thing would be available for purchase or who would have said item for sale belongs in the TRADING POST just to be perfectly clear on that point. not directed at anyone in specific but a little common sense works wonders, the forum names and descriptions arent THAT hard to understand.

I probably wouldn't have put it in the trading post either, it was a simple mistake, and, knowing him, it won'tcan't be made often.

Skyone, you are a great moderator here and well respected and one of the core members here, yes; however saying things like "i've got impatient/bitter, want to make something ok it?" is confrontational and a bit power-hungry - it is aggressive and suggests you will act against anyone who disagrees with you. Are you still suitable to be a moderator on this forum with that view I wonder? Some other forums have died when moderators have got like that. If you hate the job, pass it on to someone else, maybe older...

That was a joke, perhaps your sense of humor isn't up to par with the Hitler-watermelon .gif you presented. No one admires the minuscule bites and nibbles you take at becoming a moderator, anyway.

Finally, there are references of where to post your topics. If you have any suggestions to add to this list, let me or another moderator know.

Guys the point is you need to look where you post first. If this means you have to take a few minutes out of your day to read what some of the threads in said forums are, then so be it. There really is no reason for there to be soo many threads in Forum42, when common sense would have lead to then being in the proper place.

Go back to the line, "Take a minute, before you click the submit button." There is no reason to be in a rush to post, and you should be pretty sure where the thread belongs, not just a guess.

If any of you have questions as to what threads go where, ask the moderators. We're here to help the people on the forums.

Now I have some experience of working a forum, I realise just how easy it is to move threads posted in the wrong forum section. In the moderators menu (interestingly I couldn't find it in the admin menu) there is an option to "move" a topic and then where to. If someone posts in the wrong section on occasions, it isn't a big deal to resolve, as long as they don't make a habit of it!

But some people seeming have made a habit of posting in the wrong place. (Or they don't want to put a thread where it belongs because "that forum is dead".) In those cases, there's no excuse.

The way I see it, if someone knows about something, they'll visit that forum. So if someone knows about Ataris, they'll probably check the Atari forum and see if there is anyone they can help out.

Shouldn't the Development Center be moved down to the group below it, since it isn't really a community thing?

Yeah, anyone who knows something is definitly going to want to help someone else out.

I regularly check the n64, gc/wii, and handhelds section, as I know a lot about that(from experience. )

But I never look in the case construction forum.
