After struggling with Styrene for hours, I was still having a difficult time getting the buttons lined up right and able to register when put in the case I was trying to build, so in a last bout of frustration, I decided to franken case it up.

Due to copius amounts of hot glue, that reset button is now just for looks, and no matter how many re-tries I did, I wound up with a somehwhat mushy, but still useable D-pad. There was a small crisis with a frozen B button, but I got through it.

The problem is, Now I don't know where to go! It's obvious i'm terrible at making cases, but I need to finish this project. In addition to what you see, I have about a half-square-foot of styrene left. I still need to enclose the screen, speakers, and battery pack, leaving the cartridge slot accessable. Any workable suggestions?

Do you still have the original screen casing?

since the reset button doesn't work, I would try putting the screen in between the controller buttons. And then cutting the rest of the plastic to make a box around the rest of the stuff. And If you want to, use bondo on the front to fill in the gaps.

Well I got the reset button to work a little, you have to be pretty firm with it, but it works. I would take it out and try to drop the screen in, but as I said - a few too many mistakes with hot-glue and it's um.. stuck. I wanted to drop the NOACs controller altogether and wire it up to a classic pad, but I couldent find pinouts for the MaxPlay, and I couldent (i tried) find out which wires on the board were which for the controller. Maybe I should have tried harder.

Anyway, i'm making progress. I've switched to a pure frankencase process and i'm probably going to put the screen back in the original case and affix it to the top of what i've got now. I'm not sure how to fill in the gaps to make it more closed in,but bondo might work. Not sure yet. I'm also trying to work out where to put the 4 AAA pack.

This is what i have right now, with an AV out on the right:

The D pad is not mushy anymore, and everything is almost perfect as far as controls are. They feel very much like they should.
