Protection circuit - Red, Black, Yellow wires - IGNORE TOPIC

I am using li-ions that I stole from a portable DVD player and I was wondering why there are 3 wires going from the batteries to the circuit. There are 4 cells. I had lines coming from where it originally hooked to the dvd player and I was getting over 8V (full charge, good news) but I used it down to about 7.6V. It all worked fine and then I accidentally pulled a wire off of the circuit board. Now when I check my contacts with my multimeter I get different voltages depending on how long my multimeter has been hooked up to it. When its connected, the voltage just constantly drops. I am getting 7.6V where the batteries connect to the circuit board, but only ~4.5 with a steady drop where I'm supposed to draw power. I'm pretty sure the voltage is coming from a capacitor and thats why it drops, but what is wrong with my circuit? I'll upload a diagram or pics later - photobucket is being stupid. Any help would be great.

Ignore this topic. I fried the whole protection circuit last night, so a mod may close this thread.
