Anyone do a portable with this GAMECUBE screen?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Anyone do a portable with this GAMECUBE screen?

It looks like the same sized LCD as the PS1 screens, but without the rounded circuit board that takes up all the space.

Anyone know what the voltage and current needs of this screen are?

I've heard bad things about Intec screens, in all honesty.

If looking on eBay, look for Zenith screens, for Playstation, XBox, or GameCube. THey are rounded like the PSOne screens, but have the speakers down lower, and are black instead of white.

I usually buy from this guy;

His screens (the Zenith ones I mentioned above) are sold for $20 shipped. He gets them in all the time, so check often- and he sells them in lots, however many he has, however many you want to get.

Just be warned, that guy just throws the screen in a box without any padding. If something happens, you have to pay to send it back to get a refund, and it'll only be for the price of the screen, you're out shipping both ways.

Thanks. I've gotten a few screens from him. I think they're seconds because one of them had a fried power supply.

In any event, I was interested in the game cube one I posted, because an e-bay seller has a lot of 30 of them for 150 bucks and if they were a quality screen, I'd be inclined to stock up. If they're not so good, I'm not interested. The only thing that was intriguing is that it looks narrower.

It's a good thing they're only $5, they aren't worth a cent more than that.

They're grainy, and the boards are thick.

size shouldn't be much of an issue for my particular project (as a matter of fact, i settled on a 5" screen when nothing else was affordable). as for being grainy, well i guess i'll have to see how that effects an 8-bit system.

As mentioned these screens SUCK....

They are grainy and the contrast is the worst I've seen on a small screen in a while. And there is ghosting and motion blur like the old GameGear screens.

Stay away and buy the $20 zenith (aka Sony) screens.
