Should I?

I had both a DS lite car charger, and a Male to female usb plug.
Without thinking, I made both a car charger with a Female Usb input, and a male usb to DS port charger.
but I am not sure if I should plug it in, would it be safe if it did not work?

Um... sure, but only if your car USB thing has a nicely regulated 5V coming out of it. I made a USB charger for a friend's GBA from her dead AC charger a while back. Worked well.

She enjoyed the fact that she could charge it not only from her laptop, but from her PS2 as well.

sorry, but my well being is not in the hands of this forum yet.

Edit: It outputs 5.2V at 450mA, It was made for the DS by gameshark.
Will i work with other usb powered devices, like phones or media players?

Just in case, Ill hook up the car->Female USB with my usbCT [crap tester] I made today out of the body of a old pen, a usb cable and a led, to try out my new iron.
