Desktop Icons: Auto Arrange ONE desktop only? (Dualscreens)
Okay, so we all know of the "Auto Arrange" feature of Windows, right? When enabled, icons will stay arranged in the standard grid fashion, even when an icon is added or deleted. That's great, but I have a dual-screen setup, so I have two desktops. On my secondary desktop, I have all of my "program" icons, arranged it a VERY SPECIFIC way. Internet browsers, media players, office applications... ect. So, my question is, is there any way to Auto Arrange icons on only ONE desktop?

You could have at least tried to help me, CTFan. I know it was you that moved it.

That's no excuse. "I'm posting this thread here because the forum it belongs in doesn't get enough traffic" doesn't exactly help that forum get more traffic, either. That only makes the problem worse.Electric Rain wrote:Edit: I knew this was going to get moved... But nobody checks this forum as much as Forum 42!
On the original topic, I'm pretty sure Auto Arrange applies to the entire desktop area, since really you don't have two "desktops", just one big picture split over two monitors.

Only if you have it set up as horizontal or vertical span. Then, for example, if you have two monitors both at 1024x768 on horizontal span, windows would see it as one 2048x768 display. But, if you have it set up in dualview mode, it sees it as two 1024x768 displays. Even still though, I also can't figure out how to apply to separate desktop wallpapers to each monitor; it just displays the same image on both monitors. (Also, a span setup would stretch one image over both displays... further proof that they are treated as two separate desktops in the current setup.)bicostp wrote:On the original topic, I'm pretty sure Auto Arrange applies to the entire desktop area, since really you don't have two "desktops", just one big picture split over two monitors.
