But doesn't it seen like a blind statement to you... If I went out at the age of 7 and shot some on that is my fault at that age I knew damn well the difference between wrong and right.

Yeah, it's funny how people insist that children as old as this useless sack of car-thieving flab don't know right from wrong, as if it absolves them of their own childhood poop egress. "Hurr hurr, I used to shoot the neighbor's dog with my BB gun, but I didn't know better!"

And Grandma can't be expected to discipline this meat golem properly; one: it's not her job, and two: physical discipline is frowned upon VERY strongly anymore.

But oh, I know you all have seen some kids who needed five across the eyes at one time or another.

GTA is not to blame. It's an M rated game.

Oh, and never is Rap Music, just because it's the best type of music available and the most popular music with a younger demographic doesn't mean crap.

This kid's parents have a lot to answer for, 50 Cent and Rockstar don't.

Guys you can't deny that there are people that will play violent video games like GTA and emulate some behavior, much like how kids might emulate movies/TV shows they see. A seven year old child unless raised with a strong moral up-bringing isn't going to fully understand that most/all of the things that can be done in GTA are bad things.

The parents are at fault. They're the ones that should be censoring/filtering what the child is exposed to. It's their job to teach good morals and an acceptable idea of right and wrong.

You are obviously ignorant of rap, then. There is a VAST GULF between "gangsta rap" and everything else that was rap before the former existed.

But then, this is hardly the place one would expect to find individuals capable of making that distinction.

Considering Hip Hop is the only music I listen to. Then probably.

I'm not saying GTA was solely to blame.

From the first post: "Sure, not everybody's like that, but lack of discipline, lack of perception of reality, and lack of consequences are a dangerous mix."

All I'm saying is that, at age 7, children have a distorted sense of reality (Or perhaps it's the older people who have the distorted reality...). They don't think in terms of consequences, money, and the amount of work required to pay for the money.

And at age 7, there are no consequences.

A scary prospect.

Parents need to beat the sh*t out of thier kids like they used to. My parents slapped me up real good when I was bad, and I'm turning out fine :P

(Please don't send the child protective agency to my house, my parents didn't hurt me, just slapped me on the butt real hard when I was bad :P )

actually it IS HER JOB, she has legal custody of the kid so the onus of his bad behaviour lay on her shoulders. and it doesnt take physical disipline to make a kid behave. it is the job of the parent or legal guardian to make sure that kids dont get their hands on content not suitable for minors and to make sure that they know the difference between reality and fantasy and wrong and right

protip: "gangsta RAP" is still rap, yes there is some rap that is good and has a positive message behind its but the a large amount of it is crap (about cars, being a pimp, being rich and material wealth, sex, drugs, violence, and that sort of crap)

The same way video games allegedly do: by showing them the glamorous, desirable side of the practices.

His friend, however, was probably a far stronger influence.

Video games take a more direct, visual approach than music does. Music videos don't count.

Look, I'm not saying ALL rap is bad, there's some good stuff out there. But the majority of rap is gangsta crap written by thugs like Kanye West, 50 Cent, Eminem, etc.

And Rekarp, Conservative mode should NEVER turn off! :P

Just because the approach is more "visual" doesn't mean it's more likely to entice people. I mean, look at Mein Kamfp (My Struggle in English) by none other than Adolf Hitler. That book was definitely not visual, but it sparked the Nazi revolution. Same goes for Marx's Communist Manifesto; not at all visual, but certainly powerful. My point is, you can't use that argument, IMO.
