Hi, probibly a stupid question but would it be technically possible to use one of those 1GB GBA flash carts in a different system - i.e. by wiring each of the address and data pins from the flash cart to the address and data pins of the host system?
Reason I ask is because I am considering building a Sega Megadrive/Genesis portable and thought it wold be really cool to use a GBA flash cartridge instead as they:
- typically have a much larger data capacity than existing Genesis flashcarts/EEPROMS and could easily hold most of the Genesis game libary
- Much smaller than existing carridges and so would save a lot of room inside the case
- have direct USB connections so can easily upload games to the cartridge.
I have heard of converters that already do this, but the company selling them no longer has them in stock. I was just wondering if this is a straightforward hack or something a bit more complicated...
