video game help

i keep having this "flashback" or whatever and remember playing a game on a computer at daycare when i was like 10 or whatever. the only things i can remember from it are:
-it was a side-scroller
-the main character had red/orange hair
-and the opening scene was the dude in some kind of high tech facility. i specifically remember bright green and black. and the dude putting his hand on a finger print thingy to get in.

hope you guys can help me with this. i remember it was one of my favorite games at that time. hopefully yall can point me in the direction of an emulation, too...

Hmm... the only side scroller with a character with orange hair I can think of is Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. I'm pretty sure that isn't what you are looking for.
