Newby has PS2 USB Flash Drive Questions?

I am a newby and I would like to know if I can use any brand and size of USB flash drive to load cheat codes onto my PS2

Instead of having to buy a 16MB Action Replay Max Drive.

Not that much I've seen them go for like $500-700.

You can cobble one kit together with the bba, a compatable hard drive, USB keyboard & mouse and the two discs burned to DVDs.
