Commodore C64p Laptop Project

Nice project! I have a question about these that you might have an answer to.

Is there any way to make up a cable to connect between the DTV motherboard and a PC's serial or parallel cable that will let the PC emulate a Commodore disk drive? I don't have one of those, nor any appropriate floppies, so the equivalent to a null-modem cable is the easiest transfer system. (Don't really want to buy an SD adapter since it won't get much use, but having to run a bunch of POKE commands just to get color in Basic is annoying and a quick kernel patch can fix that.)

You can use the X1541 Extended cable, it works the best (from what I've heard, never used one, but plan on building one for my next Hummer portable.) I don't want to get another SD adapter for the next one, I plan on having just a jiffybox mod that doesn't have a screen on it.

They also sell 1541 adapters on ebay for a reasonable price (reasonable to me for how pretty they are)

Just a semi-bump. I am still working on this and having problems with cases. Assembling things, hacking them apart, soldering them back together, and making them work in a technical sense has always been easy for me. Making a concept for a case, designing, implementing, and fabricating are not my fortes by any stretch of the imagination. If anyone has any suggestions for a case, and by case I mean a box to get this into before a wire gets pulled wrong, let me know, as I want to get this in a case ASAP to prevent damage to my otherwise perfectly-working semi-portable.

Yes, I'm still working on this. Well, all I NEED is a case, but I'm very picky with what I want for the finished project and I'm having a hard time finding something. I'll probably end up making one out of oak. No, it's not going to be as nice as Ben's. It will, however, be much smaller, and not a laptop. It's going to be a portable desktop unit, because I've had some problems with finding a small keyboard that works on this. If it was original hardware I'd use the C64 keyboard, but..... I'm not building a circuit to translate the C64 keyboard into PS/2 compatible. That would be silly I'd really like to know what kind of screen ben's been using for his (non-360) laptop projects, as I don't really want to spend $400 on a 15" composite LCD module. That's also silly. You can buy a 15" TV for like $100 but they are awfully bulky.
