You know its still possible with boot and nuke.
I work at a PC store, xD. Boss refuses to sell any used HDD even if we boot and nuke it. He explained it one day on how to get the info back. I forget most of what he said as I was busy doing some store stocking but I assure you, its still possible somehow.
But again, who'd go through the trouble of doing that?

How about a 35-pass erase?HotDog-Cart wrote:I wouldnt advise selling used Harddrives. Its possible to retrive data off of them even if there reformatted. Trust me, I've done it. <.<

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.

Back in college my room mate was going for computer forensics and I was going for computer programming, and I can tell you, it is very hard to completely erase (beyond retrieving) all the data on a hard drive. I'm not even sure what it takes to do it, I just remember that it's hard to do.

Rat Shak's got some MadDog HDD enclosures for around $20-$30. Rip the HDD from an old compy, and you've got an external. I prolly have an extra HDD laying around, but I'd have to double-check the capacity. I'd also have to format it.
Just keep in mind I'm not responsible for anything left on there after formatting. I'm also not responsible for whatever you do with it.

If I wanted to do that I would have done it already. STOP SPAMMING!HotDog-Cart wrote:Well Loyalist, I'm just telling people that they shouldnt sell used HDD's.
Heck these days you can get a new 20gb harddrive from staples for like... $15-$30.
Then buy a IDE/SATA to USB converter.
Make your own case, and bam. There ya go.
