Guys I am new the electronics world so please dont kill me. I would like to try to make mine effiecent as possible and after reading some posts, it seems the switching regulator is the way to go. I need a part number to replace the 7805 linear regulators with a switching regulator. The part numbers I did find did not cross refrence thru my elctronics store's computers. Correct me if I am wrong but don't I need one for stepping up and stepping down? I have the book and am trying my first one right out of the book. But
