Downgrade from 3.9 OFW, question

Greetings everyone,

I've never modified a PSP before, but recently decided to attempt it. I have an original PSP (fat one, 1000 series), running official firmware 3.9.

I have two batteries, one is a '3.6v 2400mAh' and the other is a'TOOL 3.6V 1800 mAh Pandora Battery'. And two memory sticks 'SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo 512MB MagicGate' and 'SONY Memory Stick PRO duo 1GB MagicGate'.

I do not know anyone with a PSP, so many of the tutorials I have read don't apply to me. I have also tried various walkthroughs of this process, but all of them seem to fail.

When I follow given steps and try to run "Pandora's Battery Firm. Installer" on my PsP, I simply get a *8002014C* Error. At first I believed it was my OS (Win Vista), but the process doesn't work on an XP laptop I have as well.

Can anyone assist me in downgrading my PSP, so that I can instal custom firmware?

you don't need to downgrade. If you already have a pandora battery all you need to do is turn one of your Memory sticks into a magic memory stick. Just google it.

Skip chapter 1 and do chapter 2 and 3.

I have a PSP with 3.90 as well.

However, when I use the Pandora battery I purchased (holding down the left trigger and putting it in), nothing comes up on screen. I found another guide online that said this may be common, and even if nothing shows, to just press x and wait for the PSP to shut itself off. I tried this all day yesterday but it never worked. Any suggestions?

You need to have a magic memory stick. If you put a normal one in it just shows a black screen.

Yes I followed the same steps as in the thread. But nothing shows on screen when I put in the pandora battery and I even press x and waited for hours but nothing happened.

Try reformatting your memstick to FAT 32.

I just tried that before running PSPGrader, and it still didn't work.

PSP Grader finishes quick, then I turn off my system, remove my normal battery and hold the left trigger while putting in the pandora battery. The screen stays blank so I wait for a bit while holding the trigger. I then release the trigger and press 'X', but still the screen remains black. My husband has a fat PSP with 3.90M33 firmware, and the steps worked fine for him. Can I not use the same method since mine is a slim?

Ah! You're on a PSP Slim!

PSP Slims have different insides and my 'Adventure' thread is not compatible. Sorry. Since I don't have a Slim, I can't help. Sorry again.

Thank you for the link ^^, I continued searching and found a PSP Grader Lite, and it worked very fast and efficiently!. Thank you greatly for your time and help
