Does anyone know what the deal is with my game?

Post by Gunk »

I bought Super Mario Land here in NYC at a local mom and pop video game store, they have tons of imported stuff used, new stuff etc. I noticed my copy had a different label then most I've seen, I figured it was a Japanese import, the game is still in English though, here are some pics if anyone has some info.

my game:

sticker i've seen everywhere else:

I think thats a reprint of a cover. As, look. Theres no silver the left and right side of the picture on the cart. (The silver is nintendos way of telling you its real, sorta. Also displays info about the model)

Yup, it's probably just a dump of the rom. There is no nintendo seal on it, and there is no "nintendo seal of quality" either.

The sticker is a reprint, but the game is either a regulat game that lost it's original cover, or a rom dumped into an empty GB cart.

DMG-ML-USA is the American version (Mario Land - USA), while DMG-MLA(-JPN) is the Asian/Japanese version.

Nice find, early Japanese carts like yours (in good condition) are rare. :)

Is there really that much text in Super Mario Land? I could see the game being in English and still being a Japanese import. If not, it's a sticker swap.

Well the game Mario and Wario was entirely in English, despite never being released in the US, so it's not too much of a stretch to think that Super Mario Land might have been the same way (being all in English and stuff).

That is cool, Japanese Game Boy games are cool because you can play them in American Game Boys since they're not region locked, it makes expanding my collection of old skool Pokémon games possible.

It's not that rare. Type in Mario land Japan on Ebay and they go for around $15 bucks. I also found this...

Not really.. MK:DS IMHO was 10000000x better than MK:DD(gcn) And any mario game is a better sequal then the ORIGINAL mario bros. (the original, not Super Mario Bros). IMHO though.. all MHO

SMB2/Lost Levels > SMB
SML2 > SMB and SMB3
SMW > SMB3
Mario 64 > *

Lots of mario games are better than the original/Super, not because they were bad games, because Nintendo would do a copulate good job over and over again.

I agree. The mario partys though... they've gotten worst since they went on Gamecube wii and DS. Best one was mario party 3

I don't like Mario Party at all.

I like to keep Bible Buffet as my de facto party game.
