I have a peculiar problem with setting an avatar. When I've set an avatar URL, it only lasts a couple of seconds. I enter my avatar URL, press submit and it get a page that says my settings were saved. I then click profile again and refresh, and my avatar is there. When I wait a second and press refresh again (or view one of my posts in the forum) it's gone.
The URL is http://gameboygenius.8bitcollective.com ... oy-120.jpg
I could think of three reaons:
1) My avatar is bigger than silly limits that are outlined on the edit profile page. (80*80px, 6 kB) I checked around, and many avatars are bigger than that, so that's probably not it.
2) I have a PHP script which randomizes my avatar between three possible ones. But it has always worked before.
3) The mods put some sort of avatar block on me. I don't see why though, and I haven't received a PM about it.
What speaks against 2) and 3) is that the avatar exists for a second before disappearing. I just don't know what's going on...

Re: Avatar problems
1. Nope, that's definitely not the problem. That limit only applies to avatars uploaded to the server, which we have disabled anyway.
2. I don't know. Is the new image saved to the same directory as the script?
3. Absolutely not. If we put an avatar block on you, you wouldn't be able to have one at all (provided phpbb has that functionality). Besides, you haven't done anything to warrant that.
(And it would be the admins; mods just close, move, split, and delete topics and edit and delete posts.)
Try uploading it to ImageShack or another directory on your server. Maybe your script is taking over?
