Well I found this amazing Crt monitor at a garage sale, It was the perfect size for my arcade. I got it for about 15 bucks...fast forward to about a month later when I practice mounting for the arcade. I come to find out that the monitor is broken ...What should I do? should I go back after a month and get my money back or could I fix it?

Also any help on the problem would be great... Whenever I turn it on the light turns green but then shuts off and starts blinking... I never see any picture... What could be wrong?

Edit: I for got to switch my dreamcast VGA box to Pc but now that I did that is just show Hz?

Usually they do that if the signal they're receiving is outside their operating specs. (The scan rate could be too high or low, or the resolution could be set too high. That's usually why you see "broken" ones for free; they only do 1024x768 but people are trying to push higher resolutions into them.)

I paid $3 a week ago for a 15"ish CRT. It worked and I wanted another monitor without having to glue my eyes to classifieds. And three it close to free, they even rhyme.

They have spring clean up stuff around here (well in the cities) and I go pick ALL sorts of things up. I have literally TONS of computers and crt monitors that were all free. probably somewhere around 250-300 computers. Now thats a bargain.

I have around 5 extra CRTs left, they're hard to get rid of, paid $5 for around 10 of them 4 years ago or so (only wanted one, but they wouldn't sell only one )
I picked up a 20" CRT from the school when they were getting rid of it for free.

And as far as craigslist is concerned, if you don't live in a more populated area it's sometimes impossible to find things in the area. (Although checking it seems they finally have a general section for around a 300 mile radius around me)

there's this internet café near my school. It has some old CRT monitors in the windows with the sign "17" monitor for sale only 20€"

I only have CRT TVs, and only the laptops have a non-crt screen.

They outlast LCDs, that's for sure.

For a non HD signal, I prefer a good quality CRT over an LCD any day. LCDs scale up pictures horribly.

CRTs have their uses. After all think about it this way, if they remade the Macintosh (black/white screens) with LCDs, would you want them?

LCDs are great in that they are light, low on power and can be really big! All nice, but for people that can't use the 1440 x ??? resolution some have now a days, the pixelation they give you sucks.

I'm hoping these flat tube CRTs that I've heard of are going to be coming to the consumer market. It would be nice to have a screen that can run high resolution games/graphics, but then be scaled down to run emulated games or OS.
