12V screens

Despite the topic, this is more of a electrical question. What would be the most practical way to provide 12V DC to a LCD screen (for a portable)? I obviously don't want to run like 10 or so AA batteries to run this thing!

Take a look at National Semiconductor's buck-boost switching regulators.

What exactly am I looking for on that website? Would this fit my needs? I also saw this boost regulator, would it work as well?

The first one looks like it works better for higher voltage inputs. The second one looks cool as long as you are under about half an amp.

This requires a bunch of external parts, TI might have something thats fully integrated.
