Many of the great minds in history have been non-conformists, yes. However they were also pioneers who got to where they are now by making something new, not by making crap imitations of stuff that already exists.

Never mind the fact that RockBox and iPod Linux both have garbage WMA support.

There's a place for non-conformity, but this clearly isn't it. You're making it much more difficult for yourself than necessary. It's like flying from California, to Japan, then India, Egypt, Russia, Italy, England, and then through Canada to get to Logan Airport up in Boston.

Just copulate convert your music to MP3s instead of wasting your time with half-assed 'alternative' crap. That's just stupid adolescent "copulate the man" BS talking, not common sense. (And it's honestly pretty ironic that you're spouting this while simultaneously bending over backwards to support a completely proprietary Microsoft format. )

If you want to take the long and winding road to get less than what you want, fine. I'm offering the easiest, fastest solution to your problem that will actually work, take it or leave it. If you don't want to take that path, that's your own copulate problem.

'Aletrnative' systems for the iPod have sketchy WMA support, and that's the hard way to get them working properly. Convert your music to MP3s and be happy.

Ben actually sticks nothing to the man (at least through his portables). He still gives them money for the systems and other parts, then just pretty much swaps the case (in simplest terms, not saying its easy). If giving "The Man" money counts as sticking it to them, I want to be "The Man".

No, it seems that you actually have the problem. It sounds like your files are DRM protected, which itunes doesn't support. So its really just a simple fix, just remove the DRM (whether it means re-ripping your cds, etc). No reason to reinvent the wheel.

No one is going to waste their time typing out how to do something if you aren't going to do it (you've done this several times in the past). If everyone on a geeky forum says to just convert to mp3s, maybe they might be on to something.
