Interesting. I didn't know lithium-ion cells doubles as data storage devices these days.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

This may sound noobish, but what kind of li-ions would I need to get to use them as a hard drive? I like the idea of using batteries as harddrive space, and I have a bunch of AAs I would like to use in my xbox. Could someone give me a diagram maybe?

lol. Only kidding guys..Really though, thats funny.

To answer a question or two, It is possible to use a laptop dvd dirve in your xbox. It is also possible (and a lot more common) to use a laptop hdd in your xbox. There are few people who have used a laptop DVD drive, but it does work. All you need is an IDE adapter to hook up the smaller drive. I have seen online where people have done it, but I can't seem to find anything about it now. :?

Well if you used AAs you would really only get a few Gbs. Use a nice Li ion battery pack to get into the 100 Gbs...

Though seriously I laughed going back over my post and if you open the xbox you realise a lot of space is dvd drive and hard drive. Just use a laptop hdd, run backups and your xbox will be much smaller.

Is everybody doing a Xbox portable now? Darn, I thought I was being unique. I better hurry up then!

For even more space savings, consider a Compact Flash drive (with IDE adapter) for storage. You'd need a modchip, though. But MAN that would save space!

Actually, there's a way to replace the HD with a different one (or a CF card) using just softmods.
