i'm fairly sure i'm not the only college student here. finals week sucks. there's no doubt about it. especially when all your friends are bragging that all they have to do is write a few papers.
well i have five humongous tests and one is a 23-pager.
rant about your finals or about school in general. (so the people not in college yet can complain, too.) tell me the worst paper or test you have to take (or took, if you had finals last week or before..).
finals!

yeah, finals week for me, too....though I've already had my Solfege, Harmony, and Eurhythmics finals, so just a few more to go. In fact, I have my Repertoire and Listening final in half an hour
....barely studied, but I don't need to. A list of 17 pieces to know, that's so easy...now, if my teacher hadn't given us a list, that'd be a whole different story.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm one of the braggers. I had two tests, a presentation and a couple reports. The last report is due tomorrow, then I'm done. That's 22 credits for you.samus wrote:i'm fairly sure i'm not the only college student here. finals week sucks. there's no doubt about it. especially when all your friends are bragging that all they have to do is write a few papers.

My first test is Wed. At 8AM for a 10AM class, and it was my earliest class. Waking up at 7AM is gonna be fun(at least I'm not commuting). I'll actually have to study for it too, it's a Java programming (why doesn't CS do C anymore?) written on paper. Questions over syntax; I know C syntax, and I'm taking VB this semester too, so that's gonna trip me up. I also have to write out a program as well, no IDE, no compilier, just me and a sheet of paper. :/
A slightly easier photography test after that at 11AM. Then VB the day after that, just writing a program with full IDE (an IDE makes things so much easier).

UGH!!! I feel your pain... I HATED the always lame "write a program on paper" tests. I realize they are trying to make sure you have this stuff nailed down, but in the "real world" if you don't know syntax you look it up.tom61 wrote:My first test is Wed. I always appreciated the teachers that would let us have a "cheat sheet" to use on the tests. The great thing about the cheat sheets was that after filling them out I barely needed to use it when it came to test time. The cheat sheet was always the best study tool for me in school.
In looking back I now know that those teachers had a firm grasp on preparing students for success in the real world. They wanted you to know the material, but they also knew that you would look it up on the job if you couldn't remember for certain.
So yeah. Good luck on the lame written code tests!
As long as you have a good handle on the coding I'm sure you'll find a way to get through them. As you mentioned though the C and Java syntax is similar enough that it can trip you up. Just keep that in mind and you'll rock that thing!
