What made you want to make a n64p?
What makes me want to make one is to be able to have something handheld that isn't on the market, something unique.

Cuz I think I can. And I want to see what I can do.
Please keep an eye on my HBN64 progress.

My floor looks like a main course of spaghetti, heavy on the spaghetti.bacteria wrote:I hate having bulky consoles on the floor with spaghetti wiring at the back and sides of a television; especially when you have more than one console. It is also nice to be able to play a game where you want to, eg at work during a break. Yes, also "because I can".

I think I'm going to do that on mine.bacteria wrote:Indeed, so making your systems portable is beneficial. You can always make a tv-out option too so you can still play your system on your television if you like.
Also I think it would be awesome before school or something to be playing some Banjo Kazooie on the TV then saving, taking it out, and taking it with me on the bus.

You can do that on the later titles which saved to the cart itself. The other games save to a memory card, so you would need to connect your portable to the television and play your game on that, then when you go to school you take your portable with you; all the game saves are on your portable then.
On my last project (MK1) I had the composite and video plugs to do this; on my current one (MK2) I am using a Scart plug as I can make some of the systems output RGB instead of just composite; and can use an adapter to convert the Scart to the composite and video plugs; so both bases are covered. I suggest you might like to do the same?

I always wondered why when my first N64 broke some games kept the save files and some didn't.bacteria wrote:You can do that on the later titles which saved to the cart itself. How did you learn to do all this?

So what you're saying with that is you're making it so you can save data do both the memory and the cart itself. Please tell me if I'm right.brbhavetopee wrote:I always wondered why when my first N64 broke some games kept the save files and some didn't.bacteria wrote:You can do that on the later titles which saved to the cart itself. brbhavetopee - a) "I learnt all this" from reading all the threads in the N64 forum, other sites, personal experimentation, trial and error. b) No, some games save directly to the game cart and don't need a memory card, lots of games only save to a memory card, some don't save and rely on tapping in passwords instead.
Tibia - That's what I was saying!

Oh, thanks for clarifying that for me. Did you put a memory card in your portables?bacteria wrote:brbhavetopee - a) "I learnt all this" from reading all the threads in the N64 forum, other sites, personal experimentation, trial and error. b) No, some games save directly to the game cart and don't need a memory card, lots of games only save to a memory card, some don't save and rely on tapping in passwords instead.
