Yet another power question

Post by superdeformed »

Hi all, I'm new to the boards as well as the portable-building scene in general. I looked through the forums a bit over the last few days (mainly this one and the screen hacking one) in order to get a better idea of what I was getting myself into .

If it isn't apparent yet, I'm planning to build a portable N64. I've already gotten the screen (PSOne 5") to function properly and I'm moving on to making the N64 run off of batteries (yeah, there is a question in here somewhere :P). I've read just about everywhere so far, on the forums and other websites, that you need to supply a 12v (or 7.2v) line at about .1 amp and a 3.3v line at about 1 amp. I'm looking at the power supply for the N64 now, and it shows that 12v at .8 amps and 3.3v at 2.7 amps are outputted into the system.

So the question is, which is it? 2.7 amps or 1 amp, or does the 2.7 get lowered to 1 after it enters the system?

the psu for the N64 outputs (or rather, is ABLE to output) more amps than needed......so the draw on the 3.3v line is probably closer to 1 or 1.5 amps rather than 2.7.......
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
