WTB: Game Boy Advanced SP LCD screen (backlit one maybe)

Post by Dr. KillGood »

Well I finally figured out how to get the lense off of my GBA SP's screen to clean the dust, and it gets a large black spot on it. >_<

Can I put a back lit screen into a non-backlit GBA SP? Mine was a front lot model.

NO! This will not work. The ribbons are different sizes for one. For another, the backlit model always has power to the backlit portion- the frontlit one does not; that is, the frontlit version is either lit up, or not, while the backlit version is always lit; although it is either low light or high light.

And yes, they do use different motherboards. While the LCDs themselves may be very similar in pinout, they are not exactly the same- the backlit version has more pins, for one.

My friend had a GBAsp Demo unit that he uhh... got from a store. It had no backlight and we just oredered a backlit for GBAsp and swapped it out.

That... you asked me for proof or to get the F**k out. And I can't prove it since I'm not with my friend.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I get a chance, probably late Saturday US time. Otherwise you'll have to trust me when I say that the motherboards are different enough (heck, the light being always on in the backlit version is proof enough; ask anybody who has one or has had one). If you want, I can post pictures of the backlit board and screen- I'm just missing a frontlit screen to take pictures of (so I'd have to borrow my niece's).

Says this.

"Replacement LCD screen for GameBoy Advance SP. With Backlight. Replace your GBA SP broken screen, or simply improve the quality of the image with this High Brightness LCD. As names, brightness is improved, but also the quality of the colors, your GBA SP feels like a new generation handheld. High resolution 960 X 240 dots. Color Support 16 Million colors. High Brightness / High Contrast TFT. 100% Compatible with GBA SP Original TFT Panel."

Does that mean the model AGS-001 GBA?
