Got N64p working... using cheapest trick imaginable
The switching regulator didn't work so hot (well, actually it did - as in overheating!) so I used the cheapest trick in the book:
I got the power for the 3.3 LDO regulator from the middle of the battery pack! Even when the middle is down to 4 volts it still worked, and the system works well now (the 3.3 volt gets warm but a normal warm, not OUCH warm)
So I'll be putting the N64p story back up. what a trip this has been...

Cool
I suppose that would work since you have such a huge battery. But gannons right about the batterys
It would kind of make that many batterys pointless.
Maybe you could just take out some of the cells so you have 7.2V. That would power it for quite a while, you wouldn't have the heat problem, and it wouldn't weigh as much.
You might not even need a fan if you did that, because you wouldn't need the regulator for the screen and the heat from the 3.3v regulator wouln't be that bad

Yeah but the only game that comes to mind that used the D-pad and L trigger button was WCW vs NWO and I dont think Ben's the kind of person thats into wresling games.

And a lot used the D-Pad and Analog stick, seriously, the D-Pad shouldn't be dropped on any console, not even PS2 or Gamecube, because they still have games that you do stuff with D-Pad... and N64 should keep it, if I get the money I may make an N64p, but I need a screen

Somebody please buy my Dreamcast >_> £20+shipping
I've never played a game on N64 where you needed the D-pad or L button (at least not when analog and Z could be substituted).
On other systems, you need both (though i do like how ben "fixes" the position of the analog stick on his playstation portables. i mean, really, who the hell still uses a dpad more than the analog?), but on the N64, the Dpad was vestigal at best.
