This is another case where you have to ask yourself if you really NEED it. Is it something you can't possibly live without?
If it takes you months to save up 500 bucks, you've got more important things to worry about than a 9" laptop.

I do need it, my computer is all the way in the basement and thats 2 stories down from my bedroom! I have to go down 2 sets of stairs just to check my e-mail! Why not get a WiFi PCI card (or *gasp* run Cat-5e in your wall) and move your PC up to your bedroom?
