Have you ever watched a movie or like, almost any anime or video game, negative_creep? Apparently death is a sensitive subject around you, and I can understand why, but its something that happens in this world whether you believe in it or not. Basing your opinion on something because of the deaths of characters is just shallow. And if you simply watched the cutscenes (I, without playing through the game, saw most/all of the cutscenes, and understand fully) you'd see what Monitor had done, but apparently you can't connect dots, sorry for my assumption of intellect.

Death is a part of the world (for the moment), but killing off a character in a poorly executed attempt to cause an emotional response in the player detracts from the story. I think this is what Negative_Creep was talking about.

Having never played Halo 3, I don't know whether the deaths were poorly executed or not.

No, I don't feel that way at all, and the monitor thing was just retarded, along with the stupid character himself, it wasn't the fact that death doesn't bother me it was the obvious poor rush-job story of Halo that just made me feel bored through playing, and at certain points in the game a million characters just keep dying all the time, and all Master Chief does is bat an eyelid and run away (?). The poor cutscenes, dialogue and storyline just make everything seem irrlievant and your not "sucked in" to that world that Halo takes place in. To be quite fair the elastic band that the story is was already being stretched out pretty far with Halo 2, and by the time for Halo 3 there wasn't much of a direction taken because you can only go so far, but killing off loads and loads of characters detracts from the feeling you get from the storyline when you realize how unrealistic and retarded the Halo 3 story is, and the fact that the protangoist has absolutely no idea who he is and what he is actually doing lol.

There has been times where the storyline has affected how the player feels about the game, and that deaths in the game can actually affect the players emotions to the point it doesnt feel like your playing a video game (Aeris in FFVII, Meryl in MGS)

Note: I have never played all the way through any of the Halo games, in fact I've only played Halo3 for about 5 minutes. I have read The Fall of Reach, The Flood, and First Strike, so I know the background.

The game is about a war. How many wars do you know of that people didn't die in? Probably not many, and there probably wasn't much fighting. Now if you think that death shouldn't be in a game about shooting stuff, M rated games are probably a bit too much for you.

Um, ya. If you were taken from your parents at the age of 7 and immediately started training to be a super soldier, you'd have problems too. Its called conflict, and most good stories have it. No one would care if he had a perfect life and never lost anything.

The Master Chief is like a shell. You don't know much about him so you can project yourself onto him as you're playing. How do you know the Master Chief doesn't bat an eye when someone dies, can you see his face? I know I had emotional reactions at a couple points playing Halo 3, so I assume so would Master Chief. I think having him be like a blank slate draws me into the story even more.

i'd go with the 360 even though i've been a fan of playstation since i was like 6
but the only reason i'm telling you to get the 360 is because most your friends have it online and the main reason why i have a game system is to play online and pwn other players
and yes online play for the 360 is great and u get all that other stuff
but i'm only 14 and i only caddy so i don't want to you my caddying mone to play online so i'm saving for college and the ps3 since it has decent online gaming and supposedly my dad's getting the ps3 this summer so if he does i can save for the 360 instead or i can buy an itouch i don't know yet but i'd go with the 360 since most ppl i know have it and most ur friends have it online... and plus u can get halo and that's just fun to play online even though i suck at it
i'm not sure if any of that makes sense and i'm not sure if anyone has said all this

Yeah i'll tell you what, you can keep questioning me about the person and judging me behind your keyboard and phone line, and Halo isn't even rated M. It's rated 15. M = BBFC 18.

If you actually paid attention, you'd all realize that I said the death scenes seemed unrealistic and samey, and so many deaths occurred in the game it just felt "god, more of the same crap", the blank slate Master Chief character doesn't do much for me because i'd rather play as a character I can relate to in this kind of situation, Master Chief never seems to ever actually feel like that and it makes everyting seem unrealistic, although I do find it quite funny how a guy who is a 7 foot super soldier has the name "John" really highlights the imagination of Bungie to be honest.

There are also no signs of conflict in Master Chief anyway and about his past, he's basically just a empty shell of a human.

But thats the point, super soldiers aren't supposed to have emotion, they're supposed to be soldiers, and their supposed to do a super job of it. Think about it, you don't kill many enemies when you're lying on your ass crying. Watch the movie Soldier. And there's no real need to fill in his back story, you can guess it pretty easily, do you want a Mario game based around his days as an apprentice plumber, the end boss being a city inspector? No, because that's retarded.

Just remember. The PS3 has an amazing graphic game called Gran Turismo 5.

The cars look real in that game. Im serious. Theres a quiz somewhere on the net which shows you 15 sets of pictures. You have to determine which picture of the car is the real one and which is the GT5 one.

Like, It shows 2 pictures of a Honda Civic. You then have to determine which ones the real honda and which ones the GT5 one. I got like 10/15 and I'm a car enthusist.)

A lot of people pn the Playstation forums didnt get 15/15 and were surprised. That REGULAR DEF pictures of cars from GT5 look real. I'm just patiently waiting until monday, which is when I'll see what the cars from GT5 look like in 1080i HD. ;)

So yea, that kinda proves that the PS3 right now, has better graphics than the xbox 360.

Yet don't get me wrong, the xbox 360 has some beautiful looking games also. I got a 360 before a PS3, as I was waiting for the PS3 price drop. Now it has came, so I bought it.

Called me old fashioned, but its a racing game, you race a car around a track. I personally feel it could be little kid's drawings as sprites, and it'd still be cars racing around a track. Is there something viable that makes racing games coming out this year better than games that came out two years ago? Graphics don't count, because that's the only plus I hear, ever. (note: I think racing games, other than Burnout, are almost as dumb as sports games)

And I got a 7 on the quiz, for what its worth.

Got 14/14 on that quiz 8)

Sorta do a lot of photograpy and photo editing so I can tell stuff like that. And my favorite racing game is still Mario Kart 64, screw fancypants graphics, gameplay's where it's at.

To be honest, I love playing realistic/simulation racing games, and whatever game it is the graphics way add to it.

EDIT: Just because you hate sports doesn't make them dumb games, and don't you dare pull out the casual gamer/jock games card.
