ribbon cable woes

Post by newguy101 »

i was in the process of relocating my cart slot with some regular solid wire when i quickly(luckily) found out they would be took thick to fit/move properly. i cant seem to find a store in town that sells ribbon cable(at least not at my radioshack) and i dont have any old electronics that would have a long enough ribbon cable in them. where is a good online store to get it from? i tried mouser but since im new and it not having pics, i dont want to get something wrong. or what guage cable should i get, thanks

are you SURE Radio SHack didn't have any? I say that because I jsut bought some there this weekend for the exact same purpose. They don't have like rolls of the cable, which is what i wanted, but htye did have regular 24" IDE cable with the plugs attatched. if i remember correctly it was by the netowrk cards

Here is a decent store, but shipping's kind of high.

PDF link for Mouser catalog. Looks like you can buy it in just about any length you want.

I went into a computer repair shop and just bought some from them for a couple of bucks - it was quick, easy, and the wire has lasted me a couple of years. Plus they were interested in what I was building, so that was fun.
