Playstations double as hi-fi dedicated CD player

Well when I was browsing the internet, yesterday for PS1 mods and such and having no luck finding any, I stumbled across this article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15484873/

After reading though it, I looked further into the subject, Audiophiles love the quality of sound the PS1 outputs, specifically the SCPH-100X model PS1s with the RCA jacks on the back, the newer the models of PS1s get, the more poor the audio gets, obviously from Sony using cheaper and cheaper components with each revision.

have gone as far as modding the audio output circuit, making external Power supplies to prevent stray signals from being picked up by the laser, instructions for these mods are in the link below.

Pretty much any PS1 above model number SCPH-550X has horrible audio.
