Earthquake in Midwest

"According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a magnitude 5.2 earthquake has struck parts of Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky in the United States.

The USGS states that the quake hit at 4:37 a.m. (central time) approximately 9 kilometers (6 miles) northwest of Mount Carmel and had a depth of just over three miles. It could be felt as far away as Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

So far there are no reports of injuries, damage or deaths, but the USGS states that the damage could be light to moderate with isolated areas having heavy damage. About 7,000 people live in Mount Carmel.

An aftershock hit at 10:15 am (central time)."

I live in the Chicago suburbs and heard about this at school today. When I was walking to school, some weird guy walking his dog asked me if I felt the quake, and I passed him off as a nut. But people at school were talking about how their bed was shaking, etc. I slept through it.

I never thought there'd be an earthquake here; all those happen in California.

Anyone notice the earthquake? Anyone have any earthquake experiences in the past?

it was supposedly felt as far as Dayton Ohio, but I slept through it too, and I didn't feel the aftershock.

My mom said that had dad said he felt the Quake this morning before he went to work. And we live in Middle part of Western Kentucky on the Ky/Tenn boarder. I slept through the Main Shake. But I should of felt the Aftershock because I was awake then. Thats acording to how strong of a magnitude quake that aftershock was.

I felt it. I was awake last night until about 7:00am so I hadn't been to bed yet. I was laying in bed watching a movie and the bed started shaking, not a lot or anything, just like someone was kinda rocking in bed or something for about 10 seconds. I didn't know what it was, and I forgot about it until my dad asked me this morning if I felt the earthquake. It's kinda weird to have an earthquake here. By the way, I live in south central Iowa.

i live on the ky/in boarder and the one that happened in the wee hours of the morning woke me up and managed to knock my cell off the table(laying on the edge id assume) and "stun" it deisabling my alarm, thus waking up 4 hours late and missing my class completely lol. but hey it was a good nap, didnt even wake up for the one at 10 ish

I felt it around 4:30 am but figured I was imagining it. Luckily I'm more Northern Illinois so it was just a little shake.

There was one in Georgia one time at like 5AM but I slept through it too.

I know it sounds weird, but I have always wanted to be in an earthquake. Where I live, there is about a 0.000000000000000001% chance that there will ever be any type of seismic activity.

Anyone else feel this way?

I live like 20 minuted from Jongamer and I slept through it. A good deal of my friends who are early risers felt it though.

I'm sad I missed it.

I live in California. We get quakes all the time. We just laugh while the buildings crumble and chaos reigns about us.

Oh yeah, and we see movies stars ALL the time. And I surf to school.
