I have no idea if someone has done this before, so if so, please fill me in (pics would be nice too!).
Basically, just gut out a PSP and a... Well, I guess it could be a PS1 controller and you could paint it black, since it's be cheaper, or just buy a Dualshock 2 (but you wouldn't get to use the "shock" anyway so there's no point really but stay with me), right?
I guess you'd have to cut up plastic and forge the pieces back together somehow, but I am imagining a PSP screen above a PS controller. Just imagine if Sony were to start making PSP's with actual controllers attatched to them - that's basically it. Would it really be that hard to map out some buttons? And depending on your controller, to not have rumble... You've probably end up cutting out the L2 and R2 buttons since they serve no purpose (do not exist on a PSP) and it could help make room for whatever your doing, and I'm not exactly sure what you'd do with the right analod stick... Maybe make it so it turns the volume up and down or something.
This is just an idea I'm throwing out but if it's been done, I'd love to see the finished product and details on how it was done!
[idea?] PSP hybrid with a PS controller

There is the Doc Oc controller by f00 f00 which is a PS2 controller turned into a PSP controller. The right analog stick can be mapped to the face buttons for dual analog control is FPS games.
I say go for it, but i'd use the Dual Shock2 and not the Digital PS1 controller, as you can use a real PS2 analog stick to control games.
