I know I could. But Why? Oh an dit can power then just not all at once. Like i was durnnig a cd from files on both hard drives(at one point I had 2) and it reset itself

. So I think I'll keep checking the dumpster at marist and vassar college until I find a new computer

Are you sure it didnt reset itself because you had two devices on the same IDE channel trying to send and recieve data? That kinda happens if two devices being used are on the same IDE channel.

never thought of it that way. But I only have 2 ide ports. a hard drive on one a cd rom drive on the other

Yeah, you have to set jumpers on the back so they dont interfere with each other. This might be the problem.
