Need some help -- PSone Screen -- Wiring for Battery

Hey all! New post here...

I recently bought a Canon XL1S MiniDV camera, but it does not have an LCD flip-out screen. I plan on modding a PSone screen I had bought a long while ago for use in my computer tower. Needless to say, I never got around to modding it, and it has been sitting without purpose until now.

That I can solder composite (RCA) hookups to the board, and where. If I buy a bracket from Radioshack that terminates in Female connections, I would have to wire the positives from each port (Yellow, White, Red) to the board, and the ground to the PSone board as well, right?

Also intend on putting in a breakout for VGA...

Here's where I'm snagged:

I would like to have it run on either wallwort / car adapter, so I'd need to use the DC jack on the board already... but I would also like to wire it up to work on Battery power, such as the Sony Infolithiums... I don't know how to do this at the moment...

This diagram from PoD shows how to wire it up to a switch, which is good and all, but how do I go about wiring up the battery to the screen? Since I would just need to be powering on the screen, would I need to supply the 5v to pin 12 slot 1 as well?

I would like to use a sony infolithium, as Ben has used previously, but I would like to have it use a latching system, as is found on video cameras and such... This would allow me to use bigger batteries with higher mAh... I don't plan to charge the batteries while they're attached, rather I would like to remove them so they can sit in a charger seperately.

Any words of advice on this? I plan on putting all the guts into a project box which can be mounted somewhere on the camera body...

I'm actually about to do the exact same thing for my camcorder, but I have a flip out screen already. It's just very small, and widescreen. (The camera sensors are 4:3, not widescreen, so it actually cuts off the top and bottom of the image to make widescreen.) I could shoot in 4:3 but then the screen puts black bars on the left and right of the screen making the image about 1.5 by 1 inch, which is puny. Also, I have a 35mm lens adapter that flips the image upside down, so the screen would be nice so I can flip the screen upside down to compensate.

Anywho, sorry for that digression, but I've seen a diagram in the BenHeck wiki for how to hook up composite video. Also, on the back of the screen there's a mini AV in port that looks like a headphone port. If you don't want to solder on the screen (I probably won't) follow [urlhttp://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread ... one+screen]this [/url] tutorial over at Cheap Ass Gamer.

As for power, if you don't want to solder (Again, I suck at soldering, I'm not taking the risk) you can probably hack up the AC cable. The wall wort pretty much just transforms the 120 volts to about 7.5 volts (I think). You can probably hook a 7.5 volt battery into the power cable. I don't know about brackets, I'm probably using an RC car battery. (Which is, whaddaya know, 7.5 volts)

Hey, I just noticed something fishy. I would like to know why my reply here was deleted, wherein I quoted either LoB or Supercameraman, and wondered where LoB was. I have not received any sort of PM or email explaining why my reply was deleted, so I am now very curious.

My questions are still not answered, and I honestly was never trying to offend anyone or call anyone out; I was just told I would have some answers, and then never received them.

Does anyone else have any idea about these things? This project is on hold for me until I accurately know what I need to do. I'm not going to move forward if I have the potential to fry a perfectly good screen. I want to try and avoid that... I came to this community because I assumed you all were rather friendly and could help out. :\

Thanks for the explanation, Sharp... Makes me feel a bit more at ease. However, I'm still itching to go at this project, and I have not gotten answers yet... Really would like to know what I'm doing before I screw things up in some irreparable way.

19 days later... I just really need to know if the PSone screen accepts 7.5 volts from the AC port before I go and buy a PSone screen.
