Xbox mem card to USB adapter with pics

I've been playing around with my xbox and I wanted a way to transfer stuff to and from it, other than ftp, that was bigger than my 8mb memory card that I never use so I thought about it and figured it would be really cool if I just used a memory card casing with a USB plug in it as an adapter. My xbox is modded and xbox uses standard USB connections with proprietary plugs so this was very simple, I just thought it was cool so I would take some pics and post it.

The insides. Simple, just 4 wires to 4 pins and some hot glue.

The USB plug. I cut the hole with a file, a dremel, and an exacto knife. It isnt the neatest, but Its good enough.

Cool! Sometimes the easiest mods are the best ones. A hack like that looks like it comes naturally to a BenHeck member.

I found a guide online. This one looks almost identical (really, how much different can it look?) except my usb port looks a lot better in my opinion. His sticks out and mine is recessed.

very nice work there. slick. neat. tidy. was going to try this out myself but for lack of xbox memory card i gave up.
1 week later i softmodded my xbox.
2 weeks later i opened up my xbox took out the controller ports number 3 and 4 (in the same unit) snapped off the plastic on the inside of controller port 4. pulled out the pins. found a female usb port lying around. wired it up. hot glued it in. now my 4th controller port is just a female usb connector.
bought a usb hub, usb keyboard, usb mouse and 1GB usb stick. plugged them all in and xbox media centre picked them all up straight away.
now i just have to make/buy the xbox to usb adapter in case i ever wish to use that 4th controller port. but i have never had to before and i doubt i will ever have to in the future.

Thats awesome. I have unleash X installed as my dash with xbmc as an app. Two nights ago I finally got around to installing a bigger hdd. Now I have a 30 gig as apposed to the tiny 8 gig xbox drive. I had thought about putting a usb port in my 4th controllers place, but then thought of the memory card idea so I didn't have to hack up my xbox.
