WTB: Small-ish Laptop

Post by vskid »

I'm looking for a small-ish laptop. I'd like it to have an 8 to 11" screen, preferably 1024x768. 600MHz+ processor, at least 128MB RAM (upgradeable to 256MB+), and at least 6GB hard drive. Touchscreen would be nice, pretty much required if it doesn't have a trackpoint (eraser nub). Battery life isn't too big of an issue, I could always get more batteries. WiFi is a plus, 2 or more USB ports, CD or DVD drive if it happens to have a place for one. I'd like it to be in good working condition, so I don't have to take it apart and risk killing it (ya, thats the fun part, until it does die). As long as it looks ok I'm fine, minimal scratches on the screen though. I don't want to pay much more than $200, I also have stuff in my for sale thread that I'd trade plus up to $200 (might increase). If you have one you would consider selling for about $300 or less, post a picture, specs, and how much you'd want for it.

Scored a Lifebook (pretty sure its a b2630, seller just said b series, I guessed from the specs) for $175 shipped off ebay, so this thread is no longer needed.

Nice. 8) I have a similar one (B2610). They're nice little laptops.

Ya, I was wanting a 10-12" tablet convertible, but the cheapest ones on ebay are about $400+, which is too much for me. I decided from the good things you and Triton have said about Lifebooks that it would be the perfect combination of portability, power, usability, and price. Only downfall is the 256MB limit on RAM, but I can live with that (the one I got has 128MB, I'll upgrade when I get some more money). I'm used to using a 15" laptop that probably weighs 6-7 pounds, this should be a nice change.
