Ever want your own videogame store? well I'm doing it!

i have considered the rental idea, if i do decide to do it it will be later on after i have become a proper established business instead of a new startup, less risk that way. i like the list of games idea! might do a spin on that and have books (one for each system i carry) that have a picture short description (and other misc info) and asking price of each game i have in inventory. use like photo album or playing card holding type books with every game on a removable card, i sell the game i take out a card i get one in stock i put a new card in. something like that could work pretty well!

that sounds like an awesome idea, and you should maybe think of selling things along the lines of warhammer, or minature war games or any collectible games, because i know in my area a lot of people play and there is only one store which makes more money off the figures then their rentals and buying of their games

you said that you were going to have rental rooms above as well? well if you choose that location, a store by me has a apartment above, where its turned into like a party room where they charge per hour to host your kids partys and stuff like that, and they have arcade games and systems you can have in the room, i think you can choose one system, and every other is extra, but it makes good money, because when i was little i went to soo mant parties there

, so i think it'd be a good idea.

and it wouldnt be quite a lounge, because it would cost money to go up there, and you would probably have to reserve the room.

Ohh, and maybe sell manga? my friends dad has a comics store downtown, in my small town which makes good money

the rooms above are apartments and will be used as such. there is already a store that does cardgames and comics and stuff downtown and i dont have much intrest in them anyway so i probably wont do that but my store WILL carry anime, manga and japanese stuff like that. and i will have a few arcade machines available for play (pacman, donkeykong and 1 or 2 others that one of my friends own)

Why would he? When you buy it, you don't need anything... If you sell one at a garagesale(bootsale/yardsale) you don't need one..

Off-Topic : Did ya'll know that garagesales are illegal? Since your not paying tax on the items you sale, your breaking the law.. Same goes with things like cutting your neighbors grass, walking dogs, etc.

don't forget to keep an eye out for "hot" items(i.e. stolen goods people are trying to sell to you).

Usually people who have electronics stolen from them report it to pawn shops and other such stores, stores like yours.

I recommend Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (old but still played proffesionally.)

Considering renting said apartment.

You need to make SURE that people have a really good reason to visit your store rather than just buy something online. A service or something of that nature will help. I don't buy anything in person anymore. I shop 100% online, and I know there are plenty of other people who do so as well. So, like I said, just make sure you do SOMETHING to make your store the $H!7.

I had the idea a few months ago for a gaming cafe type of place where they pay for play time... I had so many ideas for it and had done so much research. I got stumped when I decided I needed to make sure that only people that were gonna actually pay to play something would be in my place... It would be so easy for it to turn into a hang-out place where 90% of the people there just hang around and take up space... You've semi-reinspired me to continue planning out this idea, actually... thanks.

Oh, that's a good idea! I don't think the machine to do that is very expensive. (No, I'm not talking about a Disk Doctor or whatever, I mean a professional one...)

Well when i was a kid (the snes era just started) there was a cool videogames shop that had a pretty smart idea they had a row of cabinets that had the tv screen showing but not the plastic bezal and you could pay $2 for 5min of gameplay of any game on the shelfs

The basic idea was you can pick up a game and pay money to play it the clerk would open the cabinet put it on and set the tv's sleep timer to turn off in 5 10 15 whatever amount u payed and then locked it again.

I liked it cause i could see if id like a game to rent but id also get to play some cool games while i was waiting for the bus home

Basically it was a ghetto style arcade cabinet

Might be an idea
