Like the topic title says, Its amazing how a simple task can be so hard.

Like today, I can't fully install a Wireless adaptor driver program on the old Toshiba laptop I got. All because it also needs the Windows 98 CD-ROM to install it. And I don't have the CD-ROM yet

.

So the score is: Old Toshiba Laptop 2/ Nightwheel 0

But anyways, Any of you have had simiple task to do with a computer or game system? That took more work to acomplish than it should?

I built an N64 video cable out of cardboard, tape, and wire, after losing the original. It works great!

I've yet to be able to uninstall a game from my computer because it's only partially there and i want to reinstall in order to play again. I also hate starting homework....... Off to play videogames.

Well, I can say a complex task in a simple way: "I want to use a PSone LCD with my PC."

I spent so many hours making connections between the LCD's internal cables and a VGA connector, then some more trying to get the image to sync up. I'm pretty sure the problem was the video card's lack of a C-sync, or some such thing.

Just get a TV out card for your PC if it doesn't already have one.

I started crying because I came home form school one day and my computer wouldn't turn on and I tried EVERYTHING! CMOS reset, useing different cables, taking out all the non-essentials. I spend 4+hours doing different things.

Then out of a fit of rage, and pure desperation I took the one stick of RAM I had out and put it back in and then the computer worked just fine.

go to http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/ps ... tools.html
scroll down till you see "Download Controller Plugins" and try the "segu's joy plugin" it worked for me.

yeah, a simple thing can be very hard.
i found out that as i attempted to install warcraft for about 2 hours, that i was holding up the code on the manuel for Starcraft

Hmm, there's the story of my P100 laptop which I found in the trash without the HD caddy. I ended up connecting the HD where the CD-ROM used to be. To achieve my goal I had to use a special boot floppy with the OnTrack IDE controller driver on it. The reason for this is because BIOS refused to recognice anything but a CD-ROM on that IDE channel.
So, in the end I got a P100 that could boot 98lite without much problem with the help of a floppy. I also tried installing Linux, which failed.
All this took me from the Friday afternoon until late Sunday night before I was done, and I go very little sleep those nights.
The reward was the ability to use the OPL sound chip that the laptop has.
