Cropping a PSOne screen
I'm needing to cut a PSOne screen's top off to fit in a case I built, but I'm not LED modding it, as I'd rather take the battery life hit and keep the original backlight. That being said, exactly what components can I take off the top of the PSOne screen and still have the backlight function? I know I need to keep the plug, but other than that, is cutting everything else still fair game? Thanks!

You need that if you are keeping the PSone screen with the florescent tube; however you can trim up to 7mm off the top I would suggest, as long as you relocate the part in the middle by wiring it to the traces you took it away from. You can also trim off some of the grounding on the side of the mobo if you need to (as long as you don't get rid of all of it and keep a continual connection along the grounding area). You could also remove the PSone cable plugs from the bottom and wire to their contacts directly (I did this on my GP2x project, just to be different), that might help a tiny amount too.
I also prefer to keep the PSone screen in its original form, I don't like the light and dark un-uniformed areas you get with an LED modded screen. Personal choice though.
You should really make a case to fit components, not the other way around.
