When updating my computers bios. I somehow messed up the MBR and now it wont boot. I didn't have anything important on there so it doesn't matter. Right now I'm running Meunute OS for the time being but I wanna reload linux on it. What linux ISO should I load. I previously had RED Hat but I was looking at Fedora SuSE and Slackware.

I've used RedHat 9, Fedora core (1 and 2) and I just installed SuSE 9.1. Slackware is more commandline and doesnt have package management so you have to compile your own programs. Unlless you can do that SuSE or Fedora would be best, I like SuSE better as it auto mounted my windows drive and I can listen to music thats saved on it.

I just edited my fstab in FC2 to mount my windows drive into my .WINE folder

Id recomend fedora core 3. Also, about the mounting thing, you just have to add 1 line to your fstab in FC3. Also, spongey seems to like suse - if your thinking about that maybe you should PM him.

Well after spending 5+ hours trying to load SuSE form floppy disks. I loaded DOS 6.1 Installed my CD Drive Driver and then went with good old Red Hat 9. I think I'll buy SuSE at my coputer show next weel. It cost like $20 and it works

If you can get to a cd burner you can download a ftp install version.

Thats what i was trying to do. I burnt the disk perfect. My bios just cannot read my cd rom drive as attached without an os. Thats probably why i found it in a dumpster.

I was trying to boot off of floppys. Theres a way to do it, but it uses like 100 floppies

Don't burn the ISOs, use a boot disc and then mount the ISOs with it

If you have more then one system why not install the OS on the hard drive using that system and move the drive to the computer you want it in?

I would but im lazy. and I have all desktops
1 599mhz
1 300mhz
and 1 200mhz
in a stack
So to move the hard drive arond I have to unplug and unstack them all.

i dont think you guys understand how crappy these computerd are. I tried putting anther Hard Drvie in buy the PSU couldn't put out enough juice to run it

So what your saying in the PSU is soo under powered that it cant support a mobo, CD-rom and two HDD at one time?! If you have even a little money you could buy a better one, for say $20.
