Shoes indoors?

Post by Kurt_ »

I was shocked to learn a while back that Americans wear shoes indoors. Is this true?

Up here it's a given that shoes are for outside and when you go in you take them off.

I never wear shoes indoors, and if people come into my house and wear shoes, I find it disrespectful.

It is not junk! It is assorted goods with no current use.

Depends on the individual. My boyfriend wears shoes indoors and out. He only takes them off if they're really dirty. I prefer barefoot, however. Come summer, I'll only wear shoes when it's required of me. I don't like people wearing shoes in my house, though, because they track water all over my floors, and I hate stepping in it barefoot.

i rarely ever take off my shoes

i have DM's so usually once they're laced up in the morning they stay that way till i go to bed

i only know one person who asks for shoes to be taken off, but then again he does have a bloody nice house. (and his parents intend it to stay that way  )

if door mats are used then theres no real mess

I do not wear shoes in my house. I'll go either in my socks, barefoot, or in my slippers, but never wear shoes.

I'm American, and I never wear shoes inside. Socks rule.
If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

I wear shoes all the time except when I am showering and sleeping. I live in a very cold house.

I see it a lot in movies. I don't know anyone that does. It's not common up here, but I was talking to my friend who went to visit family in the US and asked him if Americans wear shoes indoors and he said where he stayed they did.
