question about PTH08080
Hi,
I've seen the very nice skytronics diagram of how to wire this up & it is very helpfull, but does any one havea nice close up (or can they take) a picture of the actual item wired up?
I guess that part that is confusing me is where it shows the resistor connecting to the middle of the leg on the capacitor? I'm not to to sure how to do that. Thanks.

You can solder on the leg of the capacitor or on the board connector pin, whichever. Here is a pic of a previous one I connected; but found I couldn't use it on my current project as it was too thick (in fact, I actually had to snip down the connector pins!); so I used a different one. The capacitor is above the board and the resistor is over that, so they don't touch.
My camera doesn't have optical zoom, so this is the best I can get, sorry.

It is a bit messy, my solder vacuum broke a while back and I have now ordered a desoldering bulb! All works though, gives about 3.1v as I recall.

If you still need one, I can get one. Actually the pth08080 has a different diagram then the one that skyone(?) made, as it only has 3 pins and not four.

jeffslot - I can't take decent pics of small items, thought it better anyway to do an illustration for you.
Skyone's original diagram for the item you mention (credit to him):

Hope this helps - you can solder to the capacitor legs or the pin on the board, up to you. Red = input voltage (7.5v?) Pink = output voltage (about 3.2v or thereabouts). Black is negative for both input and output.

Hi guys,
Well,
This is my 1st time attempting to solder something so small - it's a bit tougher than I though.
Well I'm not sure if you can tell anything from these photos, but here is what I've done so far:




I'm still not 100% sure where the negative from my unregulated power source goes. Well please let me know if you see any glaring issues. Thanks

I found this N64 Power Pinout that explained that
1 = Ground
2 = 3.3
3 = 3.3
4 = Ground
5 = Ground
6 = 12v
However I'm not sure according to the picture below how to tell where 1 or 3 is for that matter. Would it be similar to the way we read? Would it start in the top left corner? Help. Thanks.

jeffslot, if you have a N64 wall power supply, you can look on the top of it - molded on the top near the plug is a diagram of the voltages.
If you look at the back of the N64 circuit board, you'll see several traces coming from the pins on the plug - those are also labeled if you follow them to the switch.
