The Pandora (from what I have seen) is only a GP2x with a bigger screen and about double the processor power. Good stuff, but the Eee PC is probably a better bet, if you hack in a D-pad onto the cursor keys.
I doubt I will bother with either of these; it is far better to play with proper consoles and games rather than emulation; and frankly you can get about a hundred original game carts these days for the cost of an Eee, or Pandora when it comes out. I prefer to get the originals; you know they play as intended without sound stuttering or graphical glitches.

I still don't get why this is so much better than a PSP with custom firmware, aside from SD cards instead of Memory Sticks. Does it have hardware 3D acceleration, the lack of which is the GP2X's one crippling flaw?
I'm genuinely thinking about getting a 900 wither this fall or next spring, depending on cashflow. It's what the Eee should have been in the first place! Everything's made for 1024 nowadays; 800x480 isn't enough. It looks like a fun little machine now that it's got an acceptable screen. I loved using my old Powerbook Duo, but it's just not practical in today's computing world. The 900 is close enough, and does what I predict I'll be doing: light games and moving from data closet to data closet.
The Eee 900 is rumored to cost $500 in the US. I'd probably get the Linux model and install XP on it. (If what I've read is true, the XP version will only have 6 gigs of storage while the Linux version has 12; the cost of the OS got dumped into the storage.)bacteria wrote:Good stuff, but the Eee PC is probably a better bet
