*points* I think I'm gonna like you, actually.

You're polite, well-spoken, and you actually seem to have at least a little bit of a clue what you're doing, unlike a lot of the newbies we get here.

I wish you luck in whatever you decide to attempt first. Also, some members here may try to scare you away from attempting the harder portables first; don't listen to them. If you have a little electronic knowledge and are careful, you won't fry 5 N64s before you finally get it right...

Welcome, you sound a friendly member.

Modding an N64 was my second project; I say, go for it! N64's are cheap to buy and will give you excellent experience. I only fried one board as I was careless with the 3v line and gave it 5v in error (smoke...) - silly mistake.

Have a look on my sticky in the N64 forum; and my current project (also in the N64 forum) - I have nearly finished the casing, I will then rip apart an N64 and document the work on that.
