Internet Woes..

Ok, heres the deal. I've got a wii, a wireless router (linksys WRTGS or w.e), a PC hardwired through the router, and my moms laptop. I have the router set to channel 1 for the Wii. Whenever I leave my Wii on with Connect24, my hardwired computer ALWAYS loses internet connection. When it does, I powercycle my modem and router, which kicks up the internet again. This ALWAYS happens... any ideas whats wrong, and how to fix it?

Can your desktop still ping the router? (Its IP address should show up under ipconfig as the default gateway. Just type 'ipconfig /all' in a command prompt window.)

What about the laptop, can it still gain access through the router?

well, it pinged it.. The gateway was the IP address minus the last 2 numbers. But everything was there. Sometimes my moms laptop goes out, but when it does, it just completely goes out.. For some reason her laptop won't work when the router broadcasts channel 1... any ideas?

So did this start happening right when you got the wii?

Aside from the fact that you implied so, this problem sounds like it could be caused by any number of things. Do you know if the problem is in your router or modem? If its the router maybe you just need a better router (Ive seen some craptacular ones that are just totally un-gaming-able). If you got another wireless router anyways (I got one for $5 at value village), you could set one up as the house router and the other as an auxillary AP so you have two separate places to connect to. One could be all messed around with to work well with your wii/ds/psp and one could just be for normal computers.

Actually, when we got our wii, my wireless router seemed to start crashing every once in a while. its not the main router so only I was affected on my laptop... It just went away after a while.
