our school was stupid in their method of handling a bomb threat, they sent everyone from the highschool over to the elementary. a SMART terrorist would have called in a bomb threat to the highschool then blown up the elementary and killed EVERYBODY
get a digital cooking timer, tear it apart (but make sure it still works) then solder some random wires to the ground/other places and connect them to a PC Board with a couple of resistors and capacitors on them (but make sure you're not actually connecting the soldered wires to a closed circuit (use diodes to break the circles, but make them seem complete none the less)) then connect some of the wires to a small box that has something that looks like an opening protection (two wires loosely connected with each other or something)
Then (make sure to put something in the box for additional weight) get a broken phone or cellphone, connect the numpad to something on your construction (oh, and for realism, make sure to throw some ICs in there)
THEN, you put everything in a small cartboard box, but cut a hole for the numpad and timer display, which you hotglue on it
A nice big 1"x7" LED display, or equivalent (old alarm clock, etc.) that counts down to zero or up to a certain time of day, states in a nearby message.
Several wires protrude from the box.
The box is tightly wrapped so that opening it would cause an "explosion".
Cutting any of the protruding wires (Which has a sign nearby that says "cut ONE" or something similar) will cause an "explosion"
An "explosion" consists of the display randomly scrambling itself.
Another idea, more realistic looking:
Several 1 or 2 litre water/pop bottles. One or two filled with water, another filled with a light blue, green, or an actual bomb material colour. All of them are linked together with plastic tubing leading to an unseen location, placed in a briefcase, with a similar countdown/up timer.
